RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau

The successful science centre and the outstanding teaching at the Rheinland-Pfälzisch Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau form the basis for a wide range of forward-looking and practically oriented study programmes. 

The RPTU is the only university in Rhineland-Palatinate focussed on science and technology. Approximately 14,500 students have the choice of twelve fields of study with more than 100 degree programmes in natural and engineering sciences, technical subjects as well as economic and social sciences.

University of Liège

As the only fully public university in the Belgian Community of Wallonia-Brussels, the University of Liège offers varied fields of study, and strives for excellence in the tasks it undertakes: training, research and innovation. 

The University of Liège has been awarded the ECTS label by the European Commission, which certifies its quality for receiving students on mobility programmes. 

The University caters for 23,000 students (of whom almost 23% are of international origin), and employs 5,000 people, including 3,300 teachers and researchers. It offers one of the most varied ranges of courses in French-speaking Belgium at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate level. It is also very involved in European and international research programmes. 

The University of Liège consists of four campuses spread over 3 cities: 2 locations in Liège (City Centre and Sart Tilman), a specialized environmental campus in Arlon (Environmental Science and Management) and the "Agro-Bio Tech Campus" in Gembloux (Agronomy and Biotechnology).

Université de Lorraine

The Université de Lorraine in brief

The Université de Lorraine has turned Lorraine into the first French region with a supra-regional campus which furthers the joint usage of knowledge – ranging from basic sciences through to humanistic science. As a means of innovation, the university creates cross-curricular "microsystems" in order to speed up the transition of theoretical knowledge into practical use. As an important social player it promotes the economic and social development of this region.

The Université de Lorraine looks back on a 500-year history and has a pioneering role in the interaction between the fields of art, technology, and industry. Its range of study programmes covers all the fields of science: from health sciences to technology, engineering, humanistic and social sciences, law, economy, art and literature right through to linguistics. The Université de Lorraine timeline

  • March 2007: Establishment of Nancy Université
  • July 2008: Application for participation in the "Plan Campus" excellence programme; conclusion of a regional pact 
  • September-October 2008: the Boards of Directors encourage their presidents to think about convergence of the four Lorraine universities 
  • October 2009: Formation of PRÉS (Centre for research and higher education) at the Université de Lorraine
  • September 2010: The presidents are assigned to lay down the conditions for the merger
  • 25 January 2011: the Boards of Directors adopt the statute and approve the merger 
  • 24 September 2011: official establishment of the Université de Lorraine
  • 01 January 2012: Merger of four universities into the Université de Lorraine

University of Luxembourg 

The University of Luxembourg is a multilingual and European university focused on research.

Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg has 6,200 students and 1,600 members of staff and offers 50 courses. A number of courses are available in two of the three teaching languages (English, French and German), while some master's courses are taught exclusively in English. 


The mandatory term abroad for students enrolled on a bachelor's course underlines how we value mobility. To this end, we have concluded student exchange and research agreements with 78 universities abroad.


The priority areas for research focus on finance, IT security and reliability, systems biomedicine, European law and business, as well as education and apprenticeships within a multilingual and pluricultural context.

Trier University

As venerable as the buildings of the old Roman town - as sparkling as the world-famous Moselle wine: Trier University is at the same time an old and a young university. Located in the heart of Europe, it has evolved into a powerful, research-orientated and internationally connected university.

htw saar - University of Applied Sciences

The htw saar - University of Applied Sciences is a research and application-oriented university with a strong regional focus on student education, teaching, continuing education, research, and knowledge and technology transfer.

It is divided into four faculties: Architecture and Civil Engineering, Engineering, Social Sciences, and Business. Interdisciplinary cooperation and strong dedication to both teaching and research, as well as a welcoming atmosphere are hallmarks of the university.

Located on the border with France and close to Luxembourg, the htw saar has numerous contacts throughout the Greater Region. However, it is also internationally oriented with many cooperations and partner universities around the globe.

The "University of the Greater Region" was founded by six universities in the framework of a project supported by the Interreg IVA programme Greater Region (2008-2013). The founding institutions are also members of the UniGR a.s.b.l. association, which has been implementing the activities of the cross-border university network since November 2015. In June 2020, htw saar became an associated partner of UniGR.
