Interreg UniGR-CBS-Center for Border Studies

The six member universities of the University of the Greater Region created a "European Center for Border Studies"  with international visibility. It was implemented by an extensive network of some eighty researchers from sixteen disciplines from the six universities.

The project foresaw the creation of a dematerialised documentary resources centre accessible to socio-economic actors and a specialised trilingual glossary; the production of publications and the organisation of research seminars on topics related to the challenges of border territories. The dedicated website enabled the general public to familiarise itself with the many aspects of the border. These actions, together with the "Forums Greater Region", also allowed to facilitate the dialogue between the scientific world and institutional actors on cross-border topics. The students from the six universities of the Greater Region also benefited from the project. To facilitate the cross-border and multilingual studies, innovative distance learning tools were developed. The network of researchers were also providing scientific support to the Interreg V A GR project "Territorial Development Concept for the Greater Region" (SDT-GR) carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

After completion of the project, the UniGR-Center for Border Studies was permanently established as the first Interdisciplinary centre of expertise of the University of the Greater Region. More information can be found here on our website.
