TARGETS

The establishment of the European Union and the elimination of borders have provided cross-border regions with outstanding opportunities for development through cooperation.

The University of the Greater Region (UniGR) is a unique, innovative confederation of universities whose aim is to become a reference in Europe and across the world by actively working towards the development of a shared area for higher education and research within the political space known as the “Greater Region”.

targets UniGR

It is committed to developing “border-free” training and research by improving and facilitating mobility for students, PhD students, lecturers and researchers from its partner universities; by supporting cross-border cooperation through the development of networks and expertise; and by promoting the visibility of cross-border initiatives in universities. The aim is to foster a “cross-border culture” within the partner universities through the efforts of the various networks associated with the confederation. This will enable UniGR not just to be a recognised player in the Greater Region but to become an effective driver for regional development. UniGR aims to achieve excellence in research and teaching by prioritising visibility and international competitiveness as well as the development strategy of the Greater Region. The alliance also promotes multilingualism in the cross-border area and prepares students and PhD students to enter the employment market in the Greater Region.

In 2020, the UniGR Council approved its strategic plan to 2040, marking a new stage in its evolution.
