Erasmus+ Euridentity Certificate

Erasmus+ Euridentity Certificate

Increasingly visible shifts in political and civic discourse about Europe and its nations, it is important not only to foster the contact between different European cultures, but also to provide access to fundamental knowledge about Europe.

To address this challenge, the consortium, composed by Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes, Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, Universität Trier, Université de Liège, Université de LorraineUniversité du Luxembourg), in the framework of the Université de la Grande Région and with the support of the programme Erasmus+ from the European Commission, created a common certificate, that focuses on the acquisition of European values (i.e., human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights as mentioned in Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union) and knowledge about the European Union (i.e. institutions, politics, history, culture, law, etc.).

Education on the EU, its institutions, its history and values: educate European citizens of tomorrow who will be properly equipped to face the political and societal challenges of their generation and help promote the European spirit

Europe for all: An explicit inclusion of students from disciplines not usually associated with questions about Europe

Mobility: foster cross-border mobility in the Greater Region and benefit from the institutions’ vicinity to each other

Employability: students will be prepared for the cross-border labour market due to the skills and competences they acquire with the certificate (240,000 cross-border employees in the Greater Region)

Learning: the creation of a common certificate that was developed in a concerted manner and takes into account new trends in pedagogy, as for instance virtual mobility, forms of blended learning, etc.

The project also took on an ambition of the Vision 2040 of the Greater Region: this vision promotes an educational system in which higher education institutions play a leading role in the transmission of knowledge on Europe and intercultural competences.

After the end of the project period, the certificate was integrated into the study programmes at the partner universities and thus anchored in the long term. More information can be found here on our website.
