The University of the Greater Region is an excellent and unique European network for doctoral students. The six UniGR universities cover a wide range of subject areas and offer their doctoral students a variety of opportunities.
Extending one's doctorate by a European dimension is particularly easy within the UniGR network. Doctoral students can benefit in particular from the experiences and skills obtained at a foreign university and through its doctorate system: they are thus well prepared for an increasingly globalised labour market.
Well-established cross-border cooperation between the various working groups, and the geographical proximity between the universities facilitate the completion of Cotutelles agreements. The European doctorate degree "University of the Greater Region - UniGR" allows doing an international doctorate and thus represents a quality feature of cross-border cooperation in the field of doctoral training. Although international opening is the focus in both cases, the cotutelle-de-thèse programme and the European doctorate degree "University of the Greater Region - UniGR" are distinguished with regard to their substantive and formal conditions.
As a doctoral student you can access local courses in the field of key competencies at all six partner universities and use the libraries on-site. Travel costs for research stays at partner universities can be partly subsidised by a special mobility fund (depending on the partner university, different conditions exist).
