GRETI

GRETI - Groupement de Recherches Transfrontalières Interdisciplinaires

From organising joint seminars to the cross-border multidisciplinary research network

Since 2010, GRETI (an international multidisciplinary research group) as a strategic partner of the UniGR-Center for Border Studies has been pooling scientists from three countries (Germany, France, and Luxembourg) and various scientific disciplines (Geography, Romance languages/linguistics, Ethno-linguistics, Management Sciences, Sociology). GRETI's main objective is to establish an integrated and holistic view on the issue of borders.

The core of the confederation was originally established during the organisation of cross-border seminars on "Multilingualism - dealing with knowledge in multilingual contexts". The connection between Sabine Ehrhart (Ethno-linguistics) from the University of Luxembourg, Claudia Polzin-Haumann and Christina Reissner (Romance languages/linguistics) at Saarland University, and Jean-Yves Trépos (Sociology) from the Université de Lorraine has quickly come to fruition. Subsequently, other scientists joined the research network, namely Grégory Hamez (Geography) from the Université de Lorraine and Hélène Langinier (Management Sciences) from the management school at the University of Strasbourg.

The newly launched GRETI research group took the decision to carry out its first research activities about the Smart car factory in Hambach (Moselle, France): Frontières mouvantes dans une entreprise frontalière. Regards pluridisciplinaires / On the nature of borders in a company located in a border region: A multidisciplinary view.

Twice a year, GRETI organizes border seminars in collaboration with the UniGR to facilitate the development of joint projects among scientists within the Greater Region.
