EurIdentity Certificate: Starting Winter Term 2023/24

EurIdentity Certificate: a unique qualification for Europe

There's something new for the start of the academic year in September 2023: together with its seven partner universities, the University of the Grande Région (UniGR) is launching the joint EurIdentity Certificate, a forerunner among European universities.

The University of the Grande Région (UniGR) and its seven partner universities (University of Kaiserlautern-Landau, Université de Liège, Université de Lorraine, University of Luxembourg, Saarland University, Trier University, htw saar) are determined to look to the future and will be offering the EurIdentity Certificate from the start of the 2023 academic year. This innovative certificate will provide students in all disciplines with an opportunity to explore the many facets of Europe and deepen their skills in an international context.

Professor Michael Jäckel, President of UniGR, emphasises the founding nature of the certificate for the cross-border university network: "Just as we have been able to cooperate across languages, borders and university systems to create a common certificate, we want to make it easier for our students to work, study and live together in a future where different cultures and identities merge into each other".

The EurIdentity Certificate is a complementary qualification consisting of two parts:

  1. EurIdentity Basic Level: Foundations of Europe - The online video modules in the Basic Level give students a detailed overview of various aspects of Europe. This captivating course, offered in English, is prepared by twelve teachers from the seven UniGR partner universities.
  2. EurIdentity: Advanced Level - The Advanced Level enables students to deepen their knowledge and develop their intercultural skills by attending courses at partner universities. These cross-border exchanges are facilitated by the geographical proximity of universities in the Greater Region and the UniGR's student status.

This progressive certificate reflects the commitment of the University of the Grande Région and its partner universities to multidisciplinary and diversified higher education. It also marks an important step towards a European higher education system adapted to the demands of a modern, interconnected world.

"The EurIdentity Certificate is a very special enrichment for each training course. If you like, it's like the icing on the cake of your studies". Stefanie Jensen proudly describes the EurIdentity Certificate in the certificate's promotional video:
