UniGR student at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau

Which courses can I attend?

UniGR students can attend courses during a semester at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau or just take part in a one-time block course. Time-restricted enrollment is usually possible in both open-admission and restricted-admission courses. In any case, BEFORE enrolling at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, students must discuss with their academic advisor at their home university and the academic advisor at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau,

  • whether participation in a specific course is possible (some courses have a limited number of participants; it is up to the lecturers themselves to decide on participation),
  • whether and to what extent examinations are recognized (e.g. ECTS points).

The consent of the three parties involved must be confirmed in writing in the application for enrolment (ideally via the UniGR Learning Agreement).

An overview of available study programmes can be found at RPTU's homepage.

Why do I need a chip card?

The chip card is also a student ID, library ID and means of payment. With it you can use the canteen, the library and copiers, etc. to use. If you pay the fee for the semester ticket, the chip card also serves as a user ID for the VRN ticket.

The issue of the chip card costs 10€. A passport photo is also required for the creation of the card. The chip card will be valid for the period for which you register; You can activate the chip card at one of the validators provided at many locations on campus. After the end of your enrollment period, the chip card becomes inactive. However, it can be reactivated at a later date in the event of repeated registration. The fee will not be due again.

When is enrollment possible?

UniGR students can enrol for the winter semester until September 15th and for the summer semester by February 28th (29th) of each year (corresponds to the enrollment deadlines for open-admission subjects). When adhering to the deadlines, please note that before you apply for enrollment, you must clarify with your respective subject advisor at your home university and at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau whether and to what extent recognition of any examination achievements is possible.

If you plan to attend courses at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau for more than one semester, you must re-register after the first semester by the deadline. You may also re-register in person at the Student Service Center (SSC, Campus Kaiserslautern) or at the Student Affairs Department, or by writing to the Student Affairs Department. It is not necessary to enroll again.
However, UniGR students who want to attend courses at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau again after a break of at least one semester must register again. The chip card can be reactivated for this purpose, the cost contribution does not have to be paid again.

How can I take exams and have my academic achievements recognised within the study programme of my home university?

Participation in courses and their exams as well as the equivalence of those exams should be recorded in advance in the so-called UniGR Learning Agreement.

You always have to register for exams (written exams, oral exams, etc.). As a UniGR student, you should contact the respective subject advisor or the responsible departmental secretariat and inquire how to best register fro your specific situation (analogous to Erasmus students). A prerequisite for successful registration is, of course, the enrollment at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau. It is not possible to take part in an examination without enrollment. All examination details (registration formalities, time, form, scope and duration of the examination to be performed) must be clarified by each UniGR student independently and in detail with the lecturers of the respective course.

What are the costs?

Enrolling in one of the six other UniGR partner institutions and taking courses at one (or more) of the partner universities is free for all students of the partner institutions.
