PhD students, postdocs, and early-career researchers – take note! After a successful launch in May, another edition of the UniGR event series "ECHO" will take place next spring, focusing on “Cognitive Neuroscience in the Greater Region.”

Alistair Plum, our UniGR guest professor, who is currently completing his guest stay at Trier University, is organizing a workshop on artificial intelligence and its ability to take cultural context into account when analyzing queries (“Cultural Reasoning”).
The UniGR-Science Slam was a great success!

On 26 October, around fifty people attended the UniGR-Science Slam at the “Theater im Viertel” in Saarbrücken for an evening that offered a fresh and entertaining way to explore scientific topics. Four researchers from the UniGR partner universities captivated the audience by bringing their research to life through original slam performances on stage.

New student competition « Écrire aux frontières »

In 2021, the Université de Lorraine, in collaboration with the University of the Greater Region (UniGR), established the literary prize "Frontières". For its sixth edition, the student short story competition “Écrire aux frontières” is now open to celebrate and encourage literary creativity within the UniGR student community.

Depuis le XIXe siècle, dans la Grande Région marquée par les transformations frontalières, les migrations ont toujours joué un rôle essentiel. Les accords de Schengen ont facilité les circulations intra-européennes mais ont déplacé la question de la mobilité aux bordures de l’UE. Les tensions internationales liées au terrorisme, aux conflits et à l’arrivée massive de migrants, en reconfigurant les politiques d’accès à l’Europe, posent aujourd’hui un certain nombre de questions. Dans quelle mesure le renforcement des contrôles de frontières affecte-t-il la migration dans la Grande Région ? Comment s’effectue la régulation de la migration et quelles en sont les conséquences sociale, économique et politique ?
