UniGR-Center for Border Studies auf der Weltkonferenz Border Studies

Colloque

Als weltweit größter Zusammenschluss von Grenzforschern organisierte die Association for Borderlands Studies vom 10.-14. Juli 2018 die zweite Weltkonferenz Border Studies. Die 5-tägige Veranstaltung in zwei Ländern zum Thema „Border-Making and its Consequences“ wurde von der Universität Wien (AT) und der Central European University in Budapest (H) ausgerichtet.

450 Grenzforscher aus 54 Ländern trafen sich in Österreich und Ungarn, darunter etwa 20 Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler des UniGR-Center for Border Studies.

  • PhD students, postdocs, and early-career researchers – take note! After a successful launch in May, another edition of the UniGR event series "ECHO" will take place next spring, focusing on “Cognitive Neuroscience in the Greater Region.”

  • Alistair Plum, our UniGR guest professor, who is currently completing his guest stay at Trier University, is organizing a workshop on artificial intelligence and its ability to take cultural context into account when analyzing queries (“Cultural Reasoning”).

  • On 26 October, around fifty people attended the UniGR-Science Slam at the “Theater im Viertel” in Saarbrücken for an evening that offered a fresh and entertaining way to explore scientific topics. Four researchers from the UniGR partner universities captivated the audience by bringing their research to life through original slam performances on stage.
