New UniGR-CBS release: Bordering in Pandemic Times

Statement

Au cours de la pandémie COVID-19, les frontières ont (re)pris de l'importance dans l'action politique et dans la vie quotidienne en très peu de temps. C'était particulièrement vrai pour les habitants des régions frontalières, dont le quotidien transfrontalier était soudainement irrité par la fermeture des frontières et les contrôles de police. Toutefois, la pandémie de COVID-19 a également entraîné une perception accrue des frontières sociales, culturelles, économiques, sanitaires et de mobilité au-delà des frontières nationales.

  • Alistair Plum, our UniGR guest professor, who is currently completing his guest stay at Trier University, is organizing a workshop on artificial intelligence and its ability to take cultural context into account when analyzing queries (“Cultural Reasoning”).

  • On 26 October, around fifty people attended the UniGR-Science Slam at the “Theater im Viertel” in Saarbrücken for an evening that offered a fresh and entertaining way to explore scientific topics. Four researchers from the UniGR partner universities captivated the audience by bringing their research to life through original slam performances on stage.

  • Philipp Herzog, our UniGR guest professor, who is currently completing his guest professorship at the University of Liège, is organizing a workshop on Experience Sampling Methods.
