Living Lab on Sustainable Housing and Net Zero Land Take in the Cross-Border Area of Esch-sur-Alzette on Novembre 4th 2025
What impact does the way we inhabit the territory have?
How can we make housing affordable while reducing land consumption in the cross-border area at the same time?
How can citizens help authorities reach the European goal of Net Zero Land Take by 2050?
In Luxembourg and its cross-border area, access to affordable housing is challenging in a context of rapidly rising real estate prices. At the same time, European targets require limiting soil artificialization quickly. Balancing urban development with housing accessibility is therefore a real challenge for ecological and social transition policies.
With the Living Lab “Habiting the Territory, Living the Transition”, you are invited as a citizen to exchange ideas with us on how we inhabit the territory, aiming to find sustainable solutions that respect both individual aspirations and the collective long-term interest. Come and explore the challenges of the cross-border territory around Esch-sur-Alzette. The choices we make today will shape the future for generations to come!
