LATI is featured in the magazine Stories of European Cooperation!

In its June edition, Interact’s magazine highlights how Interreg projects turn European policies into concrete action on the ground.

One of LATI’s key priorities is to contribute to the European Union’s goal of achieving No net land take by 2050. This objective is essential to reduce soil sealing, protect natural resources and promote more sustainable territorial development.

In this article, our IVY volunteer Yolène Le Bras presents LATI’s Soil Walks as a practical initiative that helps support this European objective.

By encouraging dialogue between stakeholders and promoting a shared understanding of land use, they help bridge the gap between policy ambitions and on-the-ground realities

Soil Walks bring together local residents and spatial planning professionals to explore specific places and better understand issues such as land take, urban sprawl and the reuse of brownfield sites.

Tobias Parks, a Master's student in Urban Planning at the Université de Lorraine, also took part in a Soil Walk in Montigny-lès-Metz. He shares how this experience helped connect European policy goals with local realities.

Field experience provides a concrete understanding of the territory and helps identify opportunities
