Following the success of the first Graduate Conference held at the University of Luxembourg in April 2025, the Department of Philosophy at the University of Liège invites fellow researchers from the UniGR partner universities to a two-day conference.
27–28 April 2026
Université de Liège, Salle Lumière
PhD candidates from Université de Liège, Universität Luxemburg Université de Lorraine, Universität Trier, Universität des Saarlandes and RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau will gather to present different research topics in philosophy related to their dissertation projects. 45-minute presentations followed by discussion provide space for in-depth exchange and valuable peer feedback:

- Aleksandar Georgiev (Theological Faculty Trier) - History through the Lens of Structural Phenomenology
- Laszlo Gason (University of Liège) - An Ethical Reading of Structural Anthropology: From Lévi-Strauss to Descola and Héritier
- Mariam Mansuore (University of Liège) - The evolution of the concept of perversion in Deleuze
- Danka Radjenović (RPTU) - Language makes sense if living makes sense: in support of Rush Rhees’ reading of later Wittgenstein
- Daniel Barrio Martinez (University of Luxembourg) - The logical category of thinking: an analysis
- Ethan Harley Field (University of Liège) - Consciousness without inner awareness
In addition to these contributions, the event offers a diverse supporting programme:
- Opening address by Pierre Duysinx, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the Université de Liège
- Welcome and scientific insights by the organizers Christian Blanco Fernández and Ethan Harley Field
- Keynote 1: Ernesto Castro (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) – What is Generic Naturalism? A Brief Introduction
- Keynote 2: Martine Nida-Rümelin (Université de Fribourg) – Are conscious subjects microphysically determined in their active behaviour?
The aim of the conference is to further strengthen collaboration between philosophy departments across the UniGR partner universities and foster new connexions within the network. As part of sustainable cooperation, this second edition lays the groundwork for establishing an annual conference series.
The conference primarily targets PhD candidates in philosophy but is open to all students and staff members of the UniGR partner universities.
