The Interreg project UniGR-CIRKLA invites you to the second edition of its "CIRKLA Summer School":
GREEN METALLURGY: CASE STUDY STEEL
Decarbonisation | Circularity | Innovation
When? 7–11 September 2026
Where? Saarbrücken
The CIRKLA Summer School offers Master’s students, PhD candidates, and early-career professionals an intensive and interdisciplinary learning experience addressing the various challenges of the circular economy at the intersection of materials science, mechanical and chemical engineering, product design, logistics, economics, and policy. It is organised by the European School of Materials (EUSMAT) as part of the UniGR-CIRKLA project, funded by Interreg Greater Region.
In this second edition, participants will tackle key issues in Europe’s steel transition, such as resource scarcity, carbon emissions, and efficient production processes. They will deepen their expertise in sustainable resource management, metal recycling, and smart material applications, while building a tailored skillset in systems thinking, environmental assessment and innovation management.
The programme combines keynotes, team workshops, and practical case studies, providing insights from leading experts and excellent opportunities to connect and collaborate with peers from around the world.
Together, shape a resilient and future-proof industrial and scientific landscape!
Participation is free of charge. The event will take place in English.
Free accommodation may be available if needed and upon request (limited places).
