On January 16, 2026, Hélène Boulanger, President of the Université de Lorraine, was re-elected by the UniGR partners as President of the UniGR Administrative Board.
She will now be joined by Ludger Santen, President of Saarland University, who was elected as the new Vice-President of UniGR. He succeeds Jens Kreisel, Rector of the University of Luxembourg, whom the Administrative Board thanked for his strong commitment and active engagement over the past two years.
With her re-election, the members expressed their confidence in Hélène Boulanger’s leadership and in the strategic orientations defined under her presidency over the previous year.
A central pillar of the cooperation is the jointly defined future-oriented themes across various areas of excellence, including:

- Hydrogen
- Quantum technologies
- Psychology and Health
- Digital Humanities
- … and many others
As Hélène Boulanger emphasized, it is precisely this diversity that constitutes the strengths and potential of the University of the Greater Region:
“The added value of UniGR is expressed through the interdisciplinarity of its programs and initiatives. By bringing together our different disciplines and fields of expertise, new perspectives for teaching and research emerge.”
