UniGR Guest-Professorship: Workshop in Architecture

Dr. Marie Enders, UniGR Visiting Professor from RPTU Kaiserslautern, who is spending her guest stay at the University of Luxembourg, is organizing the concluding event of her UniGR Guestprofessorship.

When: Wednesday, 21 January 2026, from 5:00 p.m.
Where: Architecture Gallery Kaiserslautern, Rosenstraße 2

As part of the 2025 UniGR Guestprofessorship, Dr. Marie Enders worked intensively together with 29 students from the University of Luxembourg and RPTU Kaiserslautern within the University of the Greater Region network on the immaterial resource of encounter and its material instruments. The Guestprofessorship was accompanied by various contributors and guest critics from the fields of architectural sociology, cultural studies, media and graphic design, and game development. The aim was to identify encounters within the Greater Region and, building on this, to develop strategies and architectural tools that specifically, productively, and in a democracy-strengthening way enhance four distinct types of encounters that were identified.

The public workshop on 21 January 2026 is designed as a shared dinner — inspired by formats that foreground convivial exchange — and serves as the culmination of this collaborative exploration. In an informal, participatory setting, the students will present the tools they have developed and invite attendees to discuss, test, and rethink them together. The evening will combine concise presentations with open dialogue, and depending on the flow of the event may include a short keynote intervention.

In addition to short presentations, there will be space for open exchange. Depending on how the evening unfolds, a short keynote is also planned; the format is deliberately open and dialogical.

Alongside the workshop, visitors will have the opportunity to view a large-format map of the Greater Region highlighting analyzed encounter sites, and to play a specially developed Klang memory game that makes encounters audible and experientially accessible.

The evening is aimed at an interested general public, engaged citizens, as well as students, researchers, and colleagues from architecture, urban studies, and the cultural and social sciences.

All summarized information about the joint evening on 21 January 2026 can be found on the attached poster. Further information about the project is available at:
