On 1 August 2025, Cornelia Schmidt took up her position as Secretary General of the University of the Greater Region.
In her role as Secretary General, she is responsible for implementing UniGR’s strategy and representing the organisation in cross-border and European contexts.
Cornelia holds a trinational master's degree in cross-border communication and cooperation as well as a master's degree in European law. Before joining UniGR, she worked at various universities on German-French and European cooperation, most recently at the Technical University of Berlin.
'I am looking forward to my new role in this truly exciting and dynamic field of cross-border university cooperation,' said the new Secretary General. According to her, the Greater Region is the perfect place to further develop a successful cross-border university alliance, thanks to the geographical proximity of the locations and the long-standing collaboration between stakeholders.
