The new interdisciplinary event series ECHO kicks off with a scientific forum on circular economy. This first edition, titled "Circular Economy Research Forum", will take place on May 19–20, 2025, at the University of Liège. The event is organised in collaboration with the UniGR-CIRKLA project, funded by Interreg Großregion – Grande Région.
Our resources are limited – but their lifecycle doesn't have to be!
The circular economy focuses on using materials more efficiently and extending their lifespan. By fostering collaboration between science, society, and industry, we can design more resource-efficient products, optimize construction methods, and improve material recycling – a key strategy for a sustainable economy.
As part of ECHO, the new interdisciplinary event series for early-career researchers from UniGR, this first forum brings together young researchers from diverse fields to explore the key challenges of the circular transition:
- How can we map material flows across the Greater Region?
- What technological, economic, and social solutions enable the long-term use of materials?
- How can we adapt our models of production, construction, and consumption to meet global challenges?
What to expect:
- Interdisciplinary keynotes by experts
- Networking opportunities: poster sessions and discussion tables
- Interactive evening event: Serious Game Night on circular economy
