UniGR-Guest Professorship - Perspectives on Historical Research

Our last UniGR-Guest Professor for this year, selected in the 2023/2024 call, is Dr. Jérémie Ferrer-Bartomeu, Researcher at F.R.S.-FNRS, affiliated with the Université catholique de Louvain and the University of Liège (where he is also a lecturer). He will spend his two-month stay at the University of Luxembourg in the Department of History with Prof. Monique Weis.

As part of the UniGR-Guest Professorship, Dr. Jérémie Ferrer-Bartomeu is offering a series of captivating seminars at the University of Luxembourg:

On November 4th, he introduced his research on visual and textual political discourses in Early Modern Europe (linked to his project at the FNRS) to Uni.lu students. The presentation was followed by an interactive group activity encouraging participants to collaboratively construct a corpus and present their findings in a short research report.

On November 11th, he led a seminar for students of Ass.-Prof. Gian Maria Tore, titled "Introduction aux études visuelles : comprendre les images aujourd’hui". In this session, Dr. Ferrer-Bartomeu demonstrated how visual and semiotic approaches can be integrated into historical methodology—a valuable insight for anyone studying Early Modern Political History.

On November 14th, he will also host a course at the Musée National du Luxembourg on the exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Portuguese Revolution. The course is part of the Bachelor's programme ‘Cultures Européennes’ and is entitled "Parlons culture! Initiation, discussions et médiations".

On November 27th at 4 pm, he invites all colleagues and history enthusiasts to a conference at the University of Luxembourg in the Black Box of the Maison des Sciences humaines. Under the title "Le troisième corps du roi. Une histoire matérielle et culturelle de l'administration en temps de crise politique moderne, there will be numerous opportunities for scientific and cross-border exchange.

So don't miss it!
