With the ‘European Doctorate of the University of the Greater Region’, UniGR recognises the exceptional European and cross-border dimension of Dr Tom Rauber's doctorate.
The ceremonie took place on Thursday, 26 September 2024 at the Villa Europa in Saarbrücken. In the presence of invited guests and representatives of the UniGR partner universities, Dr Hélène Boulanger, President of UniGR, presented the certificate and emphasised the importance of the mobility of young researchers for the UniGR network in her speech.
Dr Tom Rauber successfully completed his doctorate at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau in July 2024. In order to be additionally awarded the label ‘European Doctorate of the University of the Greater Region’, his doctorate included among other things a six-month stay abroad at the University of Luxembourg and the University of Cambridge. Dr Tom Rauber reflects on the valuable enrichment he gained in this cross-border context: "For me, the “European Doctorate of the Greater Region” certificate was the ticket to an exciting journey with many multifaceted stations and insights that have shaped me personally and also in my role as a scientist. My two stays abroad were particularly enriching, allowing me to gain numerous intercultural experiences and put my own ways of thinking and approaches to the test in dialogue with international academics. I am very grateful for the support I received during this busy and eventful period of my dissertation and can only recommend all doctoral students to embark on their own journey and discover the many opportunities that the programme opens up!"
The ‘European Doctorate of the University of the Greater Region’ was created by a joint agreement between the UniGR partner universities. The aim is to promote cross-university cooperation in the field of doctoral training.
