If you are considering enrolling at a university within the Greater Region, choosing a study programme or attending courses at a partner university, then please note the differences between the academic calendars of the individual university.

UniGR Academic Year Planner

To help you, UniGR provides you with a table with all semester dates  of the partner universities (lecture periods, enrolment deadlines, holidays etc.). In addition, we have created an online calendar that allows you to compare the most important semester dates at one glance

The university rhythms vary, as these may be determined on a national or regional level or may even be particular to one institution. Below you will find an overview of each country.

Germany

At German universities, the academic year is usually divided into two semesters: The summer semester runs from April to September, with lectures held from the middle of April to the middle of July, and the winter semester runs from October to March with lectures held from the end of September/beginning of October to the middle/end of February.

Belgium

The university year is organised around three "quadrimesters", which last approximately four months each. The first two "quadrimesters" essentially consist of learning activities, completed by a number of evaluations or professional integration activities. They each conclude with an assessment period. The third is devoted to assessment periods along with professional integration activities and/or personal work.

France

The academic year in France begins in September or October and ends in May or June, depending on the institution and subjects or studies respectively. The year is divided into two semesters, both concluding with an assessment period.
