From city to city

The transport connections described below are for orientation purposes within the transport network of the Greater Region. All information is subject to change. The quoted prices do not include possible discounts, e.g. for BahnCard holders. Prices may vary from country to country.

 

This section will also present an overview of special fares and tickets for inter-regional trips as well as special opportunities for students.  

The following applies to students in the Greater Region: Most partner universities have a UniGR Mobility Fund whereby trips for study purposes can be subsidized.  Please inform us of any changes in route networks or rates: info(at)ugr.uni-saarland.de.

Hint for students: 
For semester ticket holders of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern or Saarland University, the following applies: 

There is a Connection Semesterticket to the former Westpfalz-Verkehrsverbund (now part of the VRN).  The ticket has the same validity period as the semester ticket for all buses and commuter trains in West Palatinate (e.g. from the Saarland border to Kaiserslautern, Pirmasens, Kirchheimbolanden).

Hint:  Students holding a Semesterticket of Saarland University who use this route on a regular basis might benefit from the Luxembourg Jumbokaart.  If both cards are shown on the bus, the express bus can be used free of charge.

Hint: For students and young people who often use this connection, it might be interesting to purchase Luxembourg's Jumbokaart. Students who own the Semesterticket of Trier University and the Jumbokaart (50€ / year) can use the train connection Trier-Luxembourg for free.
