... i.e. in the Greater Region, which includes Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany as well as the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the French region of Lorraine and Wallonia in Belgium.
Over the next two years a cross-border association of universities will be created in these four countries as a result of the “University of the Greater Region” project, which is funded by the EU INTERREG Programme. It will involve the universities of Saarland, Liège, Luxembourg, Lorraine, Kaiserslautern and Trier. The partner universities involved have a total of around 115,000 students and around 6,000 teachers and researchers.
Teaching and research is in German, French and Luxemburgish (the three national languages found in the Greater Region) as well as in English. A variety of faculties, institutes and labs in the key teaching and research departments are networked with each other via the “University of the Greater Region” project.
The project thereby offers added value to all: students & lecturers, doctorate students and (future) researchers.
